PREMIERE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST
Saturday June 24, 2006 Anaheim, California Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest World Premiere. I will never forget this day for as long as I live. Ok, so I went with my mom and one of my relatives to Disneyland around 5:30 A.M. It opened at around 6:30 A.M. I believe it was. We had already bought our tickets the day before, so we just went through to turn in our tickets; and there were free pins and the map for the park that said Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest World Premiere, I have a pic: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/yay.jpg And when I saw those, that alone got me SO excited, I couldn't believe it was happening. I mean...I was there! I had saved up for this trip a whole year, and it finally paid off. I know people do this regularly, but I've never done anything like this. I've never met a celeb or anything like that. Anyways, throughout the park there were big banners that said Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest World Premiere: And then we went further and there was the red carpet! It wasn't totally set, though. There were still people working on it: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/premiere2.jpg And there were some people scattered on the sides of the rails next to the red carpet and there was plenty of room, so we decided to go on a few rides. But unfortunately when we came back, that had changed. So we tried real hard to get a place in the front, but we got in second row next to 2 teenage girls, and 2 boys. Then I saved our spot while my mom and my relative went to go on more rides. That took a LONG time. I felt like I was sitting there for 4 hours, when it was 2 hours in the burning hot sun. Then they finally came back and it was around 1:00ish and I went to go on more rides with my relative while my mom saved our spot. So I went on some rides, and then my mom called me on my relative's cellphone, and she said that the security peeps were asking trivia questions about the film and giving out free soundtracks. So I ran back to our spot through all the radio stations, crowds, and camera people. And I got a soundtrack! YAY for free. So by now everyone was standing up and waiting for something to happen. We waited and waited til finally around 6:30ish there were people dressed up as pirates, acting like pirates walking around the red carpet (like on the POTC1 bonus features DVD) playing music and cracking jokes and stuff. It was really cool, especially when a helicopter went by and they were all like "what be that?!" lol Then after that was done, we could hear screaming from earlier in the carpet. I was so excited! Then someone behind me shouted "Christian Slater!" I didn't really know who he was but it was cool anyways: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1178.jpg Then John Voight came (I got his autograph) http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/premiere1.jpg and people from the Disney Channel like Brenda Song (I got her auto, too) and bunches of people from High School Musical. And then came Lee Arrenberg(Pintel - I got his auto also) http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1195.jpg and Mackenzie Crook!!(Ragetti) When he came I shouted like mad "Mackenzie!! Mackenzie!!" But he was on the other side and he couldn't hear me. Also Kevin McNally(Gibbs) passed by and I got his auto too. Then we could hear maniacal screaming earlier again. It took a long time for whoever that was to get down and it was Orlando and Keira!: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/premiere6.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1213.jpg I got both of their autographs, too. Suddenly, someone behind me shouted "Johnny's hat! I can see it!" I was thinking 'OMFG OMFG' Then finally last but not least there's Johnny!!! OMG I was screaming uncontrolably. There he was less than 10 feet in front of me! He was so sweet and made sure he took his time to get as many autographs as he could. When he was signing for me, I was in complete shock; I thought I was going to cry but nothing came out. I didn't even look at his autograph, I was just staring at him: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1215.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1216.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b165/BaKonNGritz/DCP_1217.jpg This is something that was so sweet that he did: there was a girl next to me that was about 10, 11 years old in a wheelchair. And he put his hand on her shoulder and said "Be careful, sweetheart, don't let anybody hurt you." AWW! Then I couldn't help but scream to him "Oh my god!! I love you!! I love you so much!" He flashed a smile with his pirate teeth and stuck out his hand! I shook his hand! OMG! His skin was so soft. It felt good...LOL I didn't know what to do I just covered my mouth and turned to my mom, crying. Not crying that much, but my eyes did start watering a lot. I just was in shock. It was amazing....then I wanted to get at least one last glance of him so I tried to stand on a trash can, and a bench to see him. (You can imagine there's crowds, and crowds of people.) Then I just sat next to my mom on a bench and she said "Where's your folder?" (which had all my autographs) and I said "I gave it to you." She shook her head and I thought she was joking..."No way," I said. I was freaking out I retraced all my steps, but it was gone. I burst into tears and my mom gave me a long hug and she started to cry softly. And we went around trying to see what we could do but I couldn't get another autograph...It was a sad ending to such a happy day...but in the end, I still shook his hand! Nobody can take that away from me. By Cranberry McCartney << Back to Fan Encounters |
