THE SET OF PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3
So we spent 10 hours on set one day, and 7 the next. The first day, two of us went there at 11:30 and saw all the costumes, weapons, etc. We saw Jack's double across the way and thought it was Depp so we ran up, but it wasn't. We thought it was cool anyway and took a picture. He was in character, and had the mannerisms down to a t. We walked around a few times to check it all out, then we picked up another person. We went up to Palos Verdes to try and see the Pearl. We drove down Paseo Del Mar(I think?) and stopped at every scenic overlook point. Then we drove around PV more for fun, and then we headed back to Redondo for lunch. After lunch we went back to the set, and made friends with the dock master, Keno. He told us a bunch of inside info. A bunch of friends joined us and we basically sat there from 3 to 7 until the boats came back. Pintell and Ragetti said hi to us. Then the boats came back and it was so rushed that we could barely see anything. Johnny didn't come back with the rest. We hung around by the trailers (and saw Gibbs with no pants and Barbossa in a robe). Then I caught a glimpse of Johnny through the trailers and ran as fast as I ever have to get around to the other side. As soon as I hit the fence outside his trailer, the door closed. I waited there for quite some time in between paparazzi and obnoxious children, and after a while it looked like he wasn't coming out, so my friends and I left. We saw the Black Pearl come into the dock, which was awesome. But not 5 minutes later, he came out and signed autographs. Yeah, sucked. So the next day it was just 4 of us and we got up at 5:30am to grab breakfast and be there by 7. We waited until 2pm and we were being led on that Johnny would be coming any moment, but we were tricked by a diversion. They brought out a double, and at the same time, Johnny was going out of a different dock. Bastards. So we didn't find that out until like an hour after Johnny had left. We were absolutely crushed. Missing my opportunity the night before quickly became my biggest regret ever. When I got home, I saw my puppy for the first time in 2 days and for some reason that pushed me over the edge and I started crying. But then later that night we went back, and it was ridiculous. The amount of people had increased 5-fold in one day. There were hundreds of screaming people. We were over by Johnny's trailer and there was a giant group of people screaming at anyone and everyone that came out of the boats. It was so bad, because I didn't want to leave my spot by the trailer, but the screaming made the fangirl in me want to run and see. Soon another group formed by the trailers and I didn't go, but then I had to. I asked someone who was standing on a table who it was, and he said it was Johnny. I called the rest of my friends over. I fought my way through the crowd and found one of my friends taking a picture with him. I said "Steph, I need that camera" and then I was in the front. I said "Johnny" so quietly that I didn't think he'd hear me under the screams, but he turned right to me. I told him that I've loved him my entire life, and he looked genuinely appreciative and impressed, and he actually blushed. I held onto his hand, and then I asked him for a picture. Then I thanked him profusely and then held his hand again. Then I fought my way back out of the crowd and squeed with my friends. :D By Lacey Madison Torrance, CA << Back to Fan Encounters |
